Converse College is an independent four-year liberal arts institution with a professional school of music. Through its School of Music, Converse has become a center for musical activity in the Southeast.  The Spartanburg Symphony Orchestra, a nationally recognized opera workshop, and several annual musical festivals--as well as its summer operation of the Brevard Music Center--are indicative of Converse's leadership in the field of music.
